Paractocrinus was named by Jaekel (1918) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Paractocrinidae.

It was assigned to Paractocrinidae by Arendt (1976) and Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Crinoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
