Taxonomy
Taxocrinus was named by Phillips (1843) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife C Serp-l]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Taxocrinacea, Taxocrinidae.

It was assigned to Taxocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978), Ausich (1998) and Webster et al. (1999); and to Taxocrinida by Sepkoski (2002).
