Taxonomy
Mizuhopecten kitamiensis was named by Satoru et al. (1966). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ainonai-Mura, Ainonai Fm, which is in a Miocene shallow subtidal sandstone in the Ainonai Formation of Japan.
