Taxonomy
Grypoceras rhaeticum was named by Engeser and Reitner (1992). It is not extant. Its type specimen is GPIUMH 2515, a shell. Its type locality is Kossen Beds, Fonsjoch Section, Achensee, which is in a Rhaetian carbonate limestone in the Kossen Formation of Austria.
