Calamocrinus was named by Agassiz (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R]. It is extant. Its type is Calamocrinus diomedae.

It was assigned to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hyocrinidae by Hess and Messing (2011).
