Taxonomy
Prolobites auriformis was named by Bogoslovsky (1969). Its type specimen is PIN 1266/256, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aral-Tyube-Bakay River, below Cherkassky village, which is in a Famennian carbonate limestone in Kazakhstan.
