Taxonomy
Gephyroceras regale was named by Holzapfel (1899). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chut River (Holzapfel collection), which is in a Frasnian carbonate limestone in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Ponticeras regale by Bogoslovsky (1969) and Korn and Klug (2002).
