Protimanites uchtensis was named by Ljaschenko (1956). Its type specimen is VNIGRI 9/61, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Hoeninghausia uchtensis by Bogoslovsky (1969) and Korn and Klug (2002).
