Turrilites saxonicus was named by Schluter (1875).

It was recombined as Didymoceras saxonicum by Wright (1979); it was recombined as Eubostrychoceras saxonicum by Kennedy (1995); it was recombined as Nostoceras (Eubostrychoceras) saxonicum by Kennedy and Christensen (1991) and Wilmsen and Nagm (2014).
