Hemibrachiocrinus was named by Arendt (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala-l K Barr-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Hemibrachiocrinus manesterensis. It is the type genus of Hemibrachiocrinidae.
It was assigned to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hemibrachiocrinidae by Hess and Messing (2011).
