Taxonomy
Sclerocrinus was named by Jaekel (1892) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Sclerocrinus strambergensis. It is the type genus of Sclerocrinidae.

It was assigned to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sclerocrinidae by Rasmussen (1961), Salamon (2009) and Hess and Messing (2011).
