Torynocrinus was named by Seeley (1866) [Sepkoski's age data: K Nc K Albi]. It is not extant. Its type is Torynocrinus canon.

It was assigned to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sclerocrinidae by Hess and Gale (2010).
