Taxonomy
Porphyrocrinus was named by Gislen (1925) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-u R]. It is extant. Its type is Porphyrocrinus verrucosus. It is the type genus of Porphyrocrininae.

It was assigned to Bourgueticrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Porphyrocrininae by Hess and Messing (2011).
