Taxonomy
Cainocrinus was named by Forbes (1852) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani T Eo Sepkoski's reference number: 576]. It is not extant. Its type is Cainocrinus tintinnabulum. It is the type genus of Cainocrinidae.

It was assigned to Isocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cainocrinidae by Hess and Messing (2011).
