Taxonomy
Aricoceras (Metaricoceras) was named by Ruzhentsev (1950). Its type is Agathiceras discoidalis.

It was reranked as Metaricoceras by Leonova and Bogoslovskaya (1990), Leonova (2002) and Korn (2006); it was synonymized subjectively with Aricoceras by Furnish et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Aricoceras by Ruzhentsev (1950); and to Adrianitinae by Leonova and Bogoslovskaya (1990), Leonova (2002) and Korn (2006).
