Pringlia was named by Raymond (1944). It was considered monophyletic by Lamsdell (2016).
It was synonymized subjectively with Liomesaspis by Dunlop et al. (2013) and Dunlop et al. (2020).
It was assigned to Liomesaspidae by Raymond (1944); to Euproopidae by Størmer (1955) and Simon (1971); to Liomesaspididae by Bergström (1975); and to Belinuridae by Lamsdell (2016) and Lamsdell (2020).
