Solonaerium was named by Etallon (1862) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm]. It is not extant. Its type is Comatula sigillata.

It was assigned to Comatulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Thiolliericrinidae by Hess and Messing (2011).
