Taxonomy
Applinocrinus was named by Peck (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Saccocoma cretacea. It is the type genus of Applinocrininae.

It was assigned to Saccocomidae by Donovan et al. (1993) and Donovan (1994); to Roveacrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Applinocrininae by Hess and Messing (2011).
