Taxonomy
Niobe obsoleta was named by Linnarsson (1869). Its type specimen is SGU K.V.A.H. VIII, 2, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Niobella obsoleta by Tjernvik (1953); it was recombined as Niobe (Niobella) obsoleta by Ebbestad (1999).
