Scotocrinus was named by Kozur and Mostler (1992) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-m]. It is not extant. Its type is Scotocrinus edenhofensis.

It was assigned to Roveacrinidae by Kozur and Mostler (1992); and to Roveacrinida by Sepkoski (2002).
