Taxonomy
Ainigmacrinus was named by Hagdorn (1988) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 980]. It is not extant. Its type is Ainigmacrinus calyconodalis. It is the type genus of Ainigmacrinidae.

It was assigned to Encrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ainigmacrinidae by Hess and Messing (2011).
