Spinizonocolpites breviechinatus was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001) [Paratype: UFP 11, 8.2 x 95. Type locality: Piñalerita Creek near Sabanalarga.]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 15, 14.8 x 110.2, a microspore (Pollen grain).
