Nothofagidites huertasii was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001) [Type locality: Piñalerita Creek near Sabanalarga. PaleoDB number 29076. Paratype: UFP 46, 18.7 x 96.2.]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 46, 10 x 95, a microspore (Pollen grain).
