Paleosantalaceaepites distinctus was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001) [Type locality: Piñalerita Creek near Sabanalarga. PaleoDB number 28565. ]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 17, 18.2 x 85.2, a microspore (Pollen grain).
