Rhactorthis crassa was named by Williams (1963). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gelli-grin Group, Caradoc, Bala District, Merionethshire, which is in a Longvillian offshore mudstone/siltstone in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Rhactorthis.
