Iodictyum was named by Harmer (1933). It is extant.

It was assigned to Reteporidae by Stach (1936), Brown (1952) and Bassler (1953); to Sertellidae by Brown (1958); and to Phidoloporidae by Schmidt (2003), Guha and Gopikrishna (2007) and Guha (2013).
