Conotreta rusti

Taxonomy
Conotreta rusti was named by Walcott (1889) [Lectotype designated by Cooper (1956).]. Its type specimen is USNM 18443a, a valve (ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 62B-Tr-108, which is in a Mohawkian carbonate limestone in the Denmark Formation of New York. It is the type species of Conotreta.

Holmer 2000Ventral valve moderately highly conical, close to catacline, about as high as wide; deltoid pseudointerarea poorly defined with poorly defined interridge; apical process, low, ridge-like, extending for about half the height, along anterior slope of valve; pinnate mantle canals moderately well developed; dorsal pseudointerarea wide, occupying about 3/4 of valve width, with wide median groove, and wide median buttress; dorsal median septum poorly preserved.
