Taxonomy
Plectodonta lenis was named by Whittington and Williams (1955) [Plectodonta lenis Williams in Whittington and Williams 1955]. Its type specimen is SM A40981, a valve (dorsal valve internal mould), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Eoplectodonta (Eoplectodonta) lenis by Cocks (2010).
