Taxonomy
Orthis acutiplicata was named by Raymond (1905) [Lectotype designated by Cooper (1956).]. Its type specimen is Carnegie Mus. 5458; and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Orthambonites acutiplicatus by Cooper (1956).
