Taxonomy
Lingula lyelli was named by Billings (1859) [Lectotype designated by Sinclair 1945.]. Its type specimen is G.S.C. 1027C and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Ectenoglossa lyelli by Cooper (1956).
