Canis geismarianus

Taxonomy
Canis geismarianus was named by Cope (1878) [also said to be 1879 or 1881, but see Wang and Tedford 1992]. Its type specimen is AMNH 6884, a tooth (left m1), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Galecynus geismarianus by Cope (1879); it was recombined as Nothocyon geismarianus by Wortman and Matthew (1899), Matthew (1899), Hay (1902), Merriam (1906), Matthew (1907), Macdonald (1970), Wang and Tedford (1992) and Wang et al. (1999).
