Taxonomy
Menodus syceras was named by Cope (1889).

It was synonymized subjectively with Titanotherium acer by Osborn (1896); it was synonymized subjectively with Megacerops angustigenis by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Megacerops syceras by Lambe (1908) and Osborn (1929).
