Taxonomy
Agathiceras discoidalis was named by Haniel (1915). It is the type species of Aricoceras (Metaricoceras).

It was recombined as Metaricoceras discoidale by Leonova (2002); it was recombined as Aricoceras discoidale by Leonova and Boiko (2015).
