Retispira chernyshevi was named by Mazaev (2015). Its type specimen is PIN 4919/6-558, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Kremeshki Quarry, locality 4919/6, Sovetsk, which is in a Roadian open shallow subtidal grainstone in the Russian Federation.
