Taxonomy
Meandrina polygonalis was named by Catullo (1856). Its type specimen is MPUP 8204 and is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Paraleptoria.

It was recombined as Paraleptoria polygonalis by Budd and Bosellini (2016).
