Taxonomy
Hyrachyus metalophus was named by Chow and Qi (1982). Its type specimen is IVPP V6393 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sisichow, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Guanzhuang Formation of China.
