Taxonomy
Hyaenodon neimongoliensis was named by Huang and Zhu (2002). Its type specimen is IVPP V12438, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ulantatal (general area), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Ulantatal Formation of China.
