Saxicavella burnsi
Taxonomy
Saxicavella burnsi was named by Hickman (2015). Its type specimen is UCMP 10707 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 15315, which is in a Rupelian marine horizon in the Keasey Formation of Oregon.

Hickman 2015 | Shell length <10 mm, thin and fragile, equi- valve, inequilateral, with beaks anterior to midline; shape modioiliform (obliquely rhomboidal), anterior end narrower than posterior, posterior dorsal margin straight, posterior margin sub-truncate, ventral margin very shallowly convex; posterior area clearly demarcated by oblique rounded ridge extending from umbo to posterior-ventral margin. Interior of left valve with weak subumbonal ridge; surface with fine concentric growth lines and growth checks. |
