Taxonomy
Dicynodon huenie was named by Haughton (1932). Its type specimen is BSP 1934 VIII 46, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Farm La-de-da, which is in a Capitanian fluvial siliciclastic in South Africa.

It was corrected as Dicynodon huenei by Haughton (1932) and Broili and Schröder (1937); it was recombined as Platypodosaurus huenei by von Huene (1942); it was replaced with Dicynodon broilii by Boonstra (1948); it was recombined as Oudenodon huenei by Toerien (1953) and Boonstra (1969); it was recombined as Anomodon huenei by Keyser (1975); it was recombined as Diictodon huenei by Cluver and Hotton (1981); it was synonymized subjectively with Diictodon feliceps by Sullivan and Reisz (2005) and Kammerer et al. (2011); it was recombined as Daptocephalus huenei by Kammerer (2019).
