Taxonomy
Conus symmetricus was named by Sowerby (1849) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Conus (Leptoconus) symmetricus by Pflug (1961); it was recombined as Purpuriconus symmetricus by Tucker and Tenorio (2009).
