Taxonomy
Vitimopsyche pristina was named by Lin et al. (2016). Its type specimen is CNU-MEC-NN-2015009, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2015 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
