Taxonomy
Cypraea (Aricia) platyrhyncha was named by McCoy (1876). Its type specimen is NMV P12138, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ad24. Bird Rock, which is in a Chattian coastal horizon in the Jan Juc Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Cypraea platyrhyncha by Pritchard (1896); it was recombined as Umbilia (Umbilia) platyrhyncha by Darragh (2002).
