Bernaya (Protocypraea) argonautica
Taxonomy
Cypraea argonautica was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 61856.05, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 61856. Fitch Ranch, 3.2 km W of Phoenix, 0.8 km S of Fitch's house, which is in a Cenomanian/Turonian shoreface sandstone in the Hornbrook Formation of California.
It was recombined as Bernaya (Protocypraea) argonautica by Groves (1990) and Groves et al. (2011).
