Taxonomy
Bernaya (Protocypraea) rineyi was named by Groves (1990). Its type specimen is SDSNH 34008, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Carlsbad Ankylosaur (SDNHM Loc. 3392), which is in a Campanian offshore mudstone/sandstone in the Point Loma Formation of California.
