Taxonomy
Pterodroma rupinarum was named by Olson (1975). Its type specimen is USNM 176594, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sugarloaf Hill, site 1, which is in a Pleistocene eolian sandstone in Saint Helena.
