Taxonomy
Mytilus (Mytiloconcha) coalingensis was named by Arnold (1909). Its type specimen is USNM 165551, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Mytilus (Crenomytilus) coalingensis by Hertlein and Grant (1972) and Moore (1983).
