Aelurognathus tigriceps
Taxonomy
Scymnognathus tigriceps was named by Broom and Haughton (1913). Its type specimen is SAM-PK-2342, a skull (complete but poorly-prepared skull and lower jaws), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dunedin, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa. It is the type species of Aelurognathus.
It was recombined as Aelurognathus tigriceps by Sigogneau-Russell (1989) and Kammerer (2016).
