Taxonomy
Clathrodictyon was named by Nicholson and Murie (1878). Its type is Clathrodictyon vesiculosum. It is the type genus of Clathrodictyidae.
It was assigned to Clathrodictyidae by Nestor (1964), Webby and Banks (1976), Bolton (1988) and Stearn (1996); and to Stromatoporoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
