Luperiidae was named by Gistel (1848). It is extant. Its type is Luperus.

It was reranked as the subtribe Luperina by Nadein (2015); it was reranked as the tribe Luperini by Bouchard et al. (2011), Bukejs and Bezděk (2014), Bukejs et al. (2020) and Bukejs et al. (2021).

It was assigned to Galerucini by Nadein (2015); and to Galerucinae by Bouchard et al. (2011), Bukejs and Bezděk (2014), Bukejs et al. (2020) and Bukejs et al. (2021).
