Taxonomy
Loncolicu tretos was named by Vucetich et al. (2015). Its type specimen is MPEF-PV 10682, a set of teeth (left M1-M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cabeza Blanca, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial shale/claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
